Description

This box allows factory ECU to send an ignition fire signal to more powerful “Smart” coils with internal fire signals by converting the IGBT signal from the internal ECU MOSFET to a square 5v wave.

If you are running your Barra engine on a factory ECU (also includes the Haltech Plugin), it MUST have this box to operate the R35 coil kit. Failure to run it will result in burnt out or damaged ignition coils.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As these coils have different windings to the factory coils, your ECU will require the correct dwell time to be set to fire at their optimum performance rate.

On flashed OEM computers, the current draw on the internal MOSFETs is monitored for coil failures. This calibration will also need to be altered as the current draw on the MOSFETs are significantly less load and may trigger a false misfire error due to the current load being focused on the R35 smart coil instead.

If errors are occurring once bypass and coils have been installed it indicates the coil voltage level has not yet been changed.  In OEM applications, the current draw on the internal MOSFETs is monitored for coil failures. This calibration will need to be altered as the current draw on the MOSFETs are significantly less load and may trigger false misfire errors due to the current load being focused on the R35 smart coil instead.

On PMCTEC flash tunes it is the “auF2455” Coil test maximum battery voltage level to be changed to 0v. On other flash tunes it may be different and is best to call the support to ensure the correct setting is changed.

This ignitor delete kit will allow users to remove the factory ignitor module and run a coil over plug design, such as our Platinum Racing Products VR38 Coil Kit which you can find HERE.
