Atomic Billet Flexplate Kit
The Problem
In high-horsepower Barra builds, the factory sheetmetal flexplate is a serious liability. Imagine a thin, 2mm stamped steel disc trying to transfer 1000+ horsepower to an 1800kg+ car. Under launch conditions, this causes enormous torsional flex, leading to cracking, shattering, and catastrophic driveline failure.
A standard factory flexplate is only 2mm thick. Our billet replacement is 9mm thickoffering over 4x the material strength to handle the stress of transbrakes and hard launches.
The Atomic Solution
We engineered the ultimate solution: a 9mm thick Billet Flexplate machined from ultra-tough EN26 Chromoly. It is SFI 29.1 Certified, meaning it exceeds ANDRA requirements for competition drag racing. It features a dual bolt pattern to suit both Ford 4-bolt and Powerglide 3-bolt converters, making it the last flexplate you will ever need.

2. Bulletproof Construction
We don't use stamped steel. We machine these plates from a solid bar of EN26 Chromoly.
- Massive Thickness: At 9mm thick, this plate eliminates the "flex" that kills stock plates, keeping your converter concentric with the crank.
- Lightweight Design: Despite its strength, we machine 40mm lightening holes to reduce rotating mass and promote airflow around the converter.
- SFI 29.1 Certified: Tested and proven to meet the rigorous safety standards required for sanctioned drag racing.

- Early Ford Fitment: This plate also suits early model Ford inline-6 engines (144, 170, 221, 250). *Requires enlarging crank bolt holes to 15/32 to use with pre-metric blocks.
- BA Models: Some factory BA torque converters may require low-profile flexplate-to-crank bolts for clearance. Please check before final assembly.
- Nord-Lock Washers: You MUST use the supplied Nord-Lock washers. These are critical for preventing bolt back-out under the extreme harmonics of a high-performance inline-6.
- We recommend dowelling your crankshaft with the installation of this flex plate kit. Using the Atomic 100709 Dowelling jig kit you can dowel the flexplate and crank with the engine still in the car!
