AVOTurboworld Aluminium Black Intercooler Air Guide is a add on for the factory OEM plastic intercooler air guide. The kit comes with all the components required to make a successful fit. It has been designed to fit with the factory intercooler and all upgrade intercoolers that fit in the factory location. We recently spoke to a Subaru engineer as to the reason why there is holes in the factory intercooler air guide and it is to lessen the impact in an accident involving the bonnet. It was not performance related at all, so we thought this was definitely an area to improve.

The results from adding the scoop were very interesting. We did 3 tests with a thermostat meter. We drove the car full throttle for 300m and stopped to check. These tests were all performed on the same day and as close as possible to each other in time.

The first test was to check the factory OEM intercooler and the results were 47.3 degrees Celsius. The second test was to add the AVO Intercooler Air Guide along with the factory OEM intercooler. The result with the thermostat meter after the 300m run was 43.5 degrees Celsius. That is a 9% drop in temperature in one 300m run. The third and final test was to add the AVO Intercooler with the thermal barrier coating on the finns and the AVO Intercooler Air Guide. We did the same run again and then checked the temperature. The result was 35.1 degrees Celsius. This was a decrease of 34.8% temperature over the OEM setup.

Very impressive and a great modification for not only power and torque but reliability in warmer weather.
